As most of you know, I ran in my first half marathon last Sunday, the 23rd of September. I had decided last January that I really needed to loose some weight. Obviously, that is an easy conclusion to come to after just having a baby. I thought I'd train for a 5K (3.1 miles), and in training, I could focus my attention on training, not weight loss. It has worked so far. I like thinking about training and not loosing weight. I'm down about 25 plus from my prepregnancy weight. Well, I never ran a 5K, but had a friend convince me to train for the half, I wasn't sure that a month and a half was enough time, but I did it!!
I ran my half in 2 hours and 30 minutes, not an intimidating time, but a good one for me.
You are probably wanting to see pictures. I would like to post some and will, but they are in my friend's cell phone, does anyone know how to get cell phone pictures off the phone? Kenneth brought our camera, but the batteries were dead, story of my life.
I promise to post pictures, someday. Thank you for all the support I've received from friends and family, it was great getting your excited response emails back.

Autumn's Sweet Lesson Learned
Thought I'd share one of Autumn's lessons learned. She was talking to me the other day after getting home from school and mentioned that she "decided" something. A little background; first day of school, Autumn met a "new friend" and was so excited. Second day of school, "new friend" made another friend and decided to not be Autumn's friend, Autumn was very sad. Autumn told her "new friend" that three people could be friends, but "new friend" said no. Third day, Autumn told me that "new friend" was her friend at recess for a little while until "other friend" showed up, then "new friend" went off with her. Follow so far. Day four, "new friend" told Autumn that she didn't want to be friends with anyone, oddly enough, Autumn was okay with that. Day Five, Autumn was sad that "new friend" was again, friends with "other friend."
Lesson Learned. Autumn told me that she really wanted to be this girl's friend, at first, because she was really cute, but then she realized that it doesn't matter how cute someone is, it just matters how nice they are to you. She said that she is going to pick her friends by how they treat her. I was very proud of her and told her that sadly enough, there are even adults that have never learned that lesson. I told her that she was very smart to learn that lesson the first week of Kindergarten and if she always remembers it, she will have many good friends in her lifetime. I love being a mom when I hear such simple, but profound things.

Kids and Kittens
We have four kittens and a mother cat living in our backyard. The mother cat is a "neighborhood stray" and had her kittens in our neighbor's backyard. The mother cat got frightened by their dogs and moved the kittens into our window well. The kittens are now about 5 or 6 weeks old and cute as can be. The kids love playing with the kittens. Isaac and Autumn, both, are very gentle with them. Autumn said that her heart is all filled up with love for the kittens. NO, we won't be keeping any of them, the neighbor's are going to list an add, and they will be given away in the next couple weeks or so.

Autumn's First Day of Kindergarten
Autumn started her first day of Kindergarten on Friday, the 17th of August. Mom and Dad were able to take her to school that morning. It was pretty emotional, I really didn't think that I would be the mom, or Kenneth would be the dad, that walked out of the school with tears in our eyes. She was so brave, even though I saw some apprehension in her eyes. She loves Kindergarten and her teacher. She's so amazed that she is already learning how to read. Its hard to see your baby girl get older and go off to school all day long.

Swimming Lessons
Yes, Autumn and Isaac took swimming lessons for the first time this summer. They took from a neighborhood swimming pool and had a blast. Autumn took two different classes and passed both levels. Isaac took one class and passed it as well. They are both very brave in the water. I think Isaac gets most of his bravery from Autumn as his example.
